Hearty Sunday

My name is Bear. I joined Infinite Youth Qi Gong as a member on Sept 2011. Six months later, I was promoted to go for the Instructor Course, even with very little knowledge and poor understanding of Mandarin. I am now 68 years old, still enjoying and practising “Rejuvenate Yourself” to maintain good health, mind and body.

It was my first time attending the Person-in-charge (PIC) session. I found it fruitful and meaningful, after being laid off for more than 2 years due to Covid. It is great to meet our brothers and sisters again, and to see them in good shape. The videos are thoughtful and refreshing. The first video is to remind us not to think of oneself first, but to work together as a team, in order to bring joy and benefits to everyone. You will feel a sense of responsibility at the end of the day. The other video presented a clean and pleasant environment, which is healthy and refreshing.

I would also like to take this opportunity to thank our Chairman’s wife, for her hospitality and kindness in providing us her specially-made bread for breakfast. Everyone received one to bring home as well. Her generosity and thoughtfulness are indeed heart-warming.

I would like to share my experience and provide my suggestions to promote better comradeship among our fellow instructors and trainers. In my 10 years practicing Infinite Youth Qi Gong exercise at Bedok reservoir, I had observed the following:

1) Our PIC for the whole of East Zone is a very committed, dedicated, motivated and generous leader, who will do her best to inspire us to achieve the highest possible standard in our qi gong exercise protocols.

Whenever she checks in on all her zones, she would encourage us to cultivate the right habits, and make sure that proper techniques are being executed. She would not only help to correct any mistakes, but would also explain in detail the purpose of proper execution, in order for everyone to achieve the maximum benefits from the exercises. Many feel encouraged and motivated by her efforts, and they often look forward to seeing her at their exercise venues. Even during the covid period when group exercising was not permitted, she would always encourage those with medical issues to not give up and continue to practice. Such commitment and dedication she has.

She also inspires all her instructor and trainers to set good examples to all the members, so they will feel motivated, more willing to accept their advice, and aspire to do better.

Hearty Sunday

2) Whenever newcomers join us, we would warmly welcome them, and invite them to have kopi sessions after the exercises. This would help them to know everyone better, so they will feel comfortable, and have a sense of belonging. We will make it a point to encourage old and new members to join our kopi sessions at different locations everyday, to have fun together, to keep our minds active and not to feel left out or bored.

Occasionally, I will encourage the members to make full use of their two hours, so as to not to waste their time and effort for getting up so early to achieve so little.

3) Before Covid, we used to celebrate a numbers of events and travel in a big group on days such as May Day, National Day , annual durian trips and more. All these fun are healthy, create great bonding and lasting friendships.

Our leader also looks out for potential instructors to encourage and groom them with confidence to lead the exercises. She has groomed many of us at Bedok Reservoir. All of us are very satisfied with her training because she is very detailed, committed and generous in sharing all the knowledge and techniques. Occasionally, she will go over with all the instructors on areas to be improved on, even though we have been doing it for several years .This is the leader who sets a good example to all of us, whether you are a member, instructor or trainer.
She makes it a point to liaise and contact member who have been absent for a long time. She would encourage them to come back and exercise. They feel appreciated and are grateful for her encouragements.
